The riot resulted not out of the sheer happiness of the stores customers, but over the fact that the woman was lying about having won the lottery. It was all a hoax.

She had announced on Tuesday after entering the store that she’d spend $500 on everyone at the Burlington Coat Factory. This prompted customers to gather at the cash registers and call their relatives.

When police arrived, 500 people filled the store and another 1,000 were outside.

Cashiers rang up sales before discovering the woman had no money. Angry customers grabbed clothes without paying.

The limo driver turned the woman in.

Police say she was arrested on three outstanding warrants but wasn’t charged for the coat store chaos pending a mental health evaluation.

Well .. that’s an interesting way to start a riot!

The boy searched the Internet and found a bike that fit the description of his for sale on eBay. He gave the information to investigators.

A detective posing as a potential buyer arranged to meet the bike’s seller in White Plains. Police arrested the 17-year-old on charges of felony criminal possession of stolen property.

The 17-year-old was freed without bail to his parents and was due in City Court.

See … even ordinary citizens can help the police with cases.

A gunman disguised in a skeleton mask strolled into Washman Carwash in Portland on the 13th of December. He confronted employee Chris Truax, demanded money and produced what looked like a handgun.

Unfortunately for the would be robber the weapon broke and the gunman stuck it in his waistband.

Truax pulled the power washer from a pail and aimed it at the robber like a rifle directing a high pressure stream of water toward the assailant.

Truax’s employers gave him two days off with pay but the police jailed him on a seven-year-old warrant accusing him of driving under the influence of intoxicants.

Well, hopefully he gets a little time off his jail sentence for preventing a robbery.

The woman, Barbara Joly of Middletown, was arrested shortly after a Franklin Huntington bank was robbed by a woman. The woman had handed a note to a teller and then made off with an undisclosed amount of money.

You know things are bad out there when Grannies are robbing banks! There have been at least four bank robberies in the area by a woman fitting Ms. Joly’s description.

This past Monday thieves broke into the Norwegian criminal police headquarters in Oslo. They managed to make off with several computers.

“I can confirm that we were the victim of a robbery overnight Saturday to Sunday,” Pia Solhaug, a spokeswoman for Norway’s criminal police Kripos said in a statement.

The thieves broke a window in order to gain entry into the building. The robbery was discovered at least three hours after it had occurred.

Geez … even the police aren’t safe from being robbed!

Upon further investigation they found a 35 year old man sleeping inside the building. He smelled of booze and he was in a deep sleep.

When he was awoken he told the police that he’d been driving and was just looking for a place to sleep.

He obviously picked the wrong place for a nap, now didn’t he?

Deputies found gloves and a flashlight belonging to the man, plus a bag containing expensive electronics he apparently planned to take.

The man was jailed on burglary, theft and identity theft charges, plus several warrants.

21 year old Charles Ray Fuller was recently arrested in Fort Worth Texas after presenting a check that he’d taken from his girlfriends checkbook to Chase Bank.

He’d filled out the check, making it out to himself for the amount of $360,000,000,000.00!

Yeah, right!

When he was arrested he assured the police that the check was legitimate.

He stated that his girlfriends mother had told him to take the money to start a record label. Uh huh.

If she did steal from the company leaving town might have been a good move, but what she did next was extraordinarily dumb ..

She apparently applied for a job in Pittsburgh this past May and guess who she listed as a reference? Yeah, the company that she had allegedly stolen all that cash from – Murphy Motors!

DUH!

Her old employer alerted Pittsburgh police when someone at the place she’d been trying to get a job checked her references and she was then apprehended.

The young man was arrested in Avon and Somerset, England in June after being caught on hidden camera breaking into a police bait car to steal the GPS device.

This was his third arrest for similar crimes in the last four months!
